Service Description

Acupuncture is a healthcare system based on ancient Chinese Medicine principles which go back more than 3000 years. As one part of a whole spectrum of treatments, Chinese Medicine, acupuncture has been effectively practiced in China and the whole Far East for thousands of years. The fact that it has survived for thousands of years and is becoming increasingly popular in the western world is enough proof of its efficacy. The overall aim of acupuncture treatment is to restore the body’s balance. It is designed to re-balance and unblock the flow of energy Qi within the body. Our acupuncturists have undergone rigorous training in China, so to provide an exceptional level of expertise and experience. Acupuncture is beneficial for a wide range of conditions. Whatever your health issue, treatment is designed to affect your whole body and not just your symptoms, so you may notice other niggling complaints also get better with a course of treatment. In 2003, the World Health Organization (WHO) listed a number of conditions in which they say acupuncture has been proven effective. These include: high and low blood pressure chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting some gastric conditions, including peptic ulcer painful periods dysentery allergic rhinitis facial pain morning sickness rheumatoid arthritis sprains tennis elbow sciatica dental pain reducing the risk of stroke inducing labor Other conditions for which the WHO say that acupuncture may help but more evidence is needed include: fibromyalgia neuralgia post-operative convalescence substance, tobacco and alcohol dependence spine pain stiff neck vascular dementia whooping cough, or pertussis Tourette syndrome
